剧情梗概：
所有的黑帮故事似乎都不能摆脱杀戮和复仇的套路，但这部电影却将黑帮的复仇升华为一次追求平等与自由的集体反抗。纽约的黑帮主要由意大利裔的瓦龙领导的意大利派和爱尔兰裔的比尔（丹尼尔•戴-刘易斯DanielDayLewis）领导爱尔兰派组成。瓦龙被比尔暗杀后，其子阿姆斯特朗（莱昂纳多•迪卡普里奥LeonardoDiCaprio饰）被送进监牢。怀着强烈的复仇愿望，阿姆斯特朗熬过了10年牢狱之苦。为了复仇，阿姆斯特朗隐形埋名加入了比尔领导的爱尔兰派黑帮。然而，随着他越接近比尔，就越发觉杀掉比尔并不能使所有迫害的人最终得到解脱，因为黑帮背后还有强大的政治力量支持剧情版本二：一个多世纪前的纽约，腐败政客用见不得人的龌龊手段争夺着这个城市的官方领导权；而在曼哈顿岛五分区、包里区、天堂广场一带，爱尔兰移民的黑帮组织死兔党和本地党则明目张胆地以武力争夺着地盘和一切可以占有的东西死兔党的老帮主普瑞斯特维伦(连恩尼森)被本地人党的头儿、屠夫比尔普尔(丹尼尔戴-刘易斯)乾掉，死者年轻的儿子阿姆斯特丹维伦(莱昂纳多迪卡普里奥)继续了首领的位置。当然，他上任后的第一桩买卖就是杀死比尔替父亲报仇。然而，帮派之间历时数年的争斗使得其间的孰是孰非已经纠缠不清，屠夫比尔又真的是个冷血凶残、杀人不眨眼的屠夫，这些都让阿姆斯特丹的复仇计划困难重重。结识女贼珍妮埃佛迪安(卡梅伦迪雅兹)似乎让事情出现了转机，她的帮助给了阿姆斯特丹新的希望，而且两人在互相的合作、利用中渐渐坠入了爱河谁知道这对于复仇之路究竟是福还是祸呢电影评价：不少人探讨影片中维纶对于屠夫比尔的复仇心态，很多人忽略了一点，最终维纶向比尔挑战，并非是为父复仇，而是对于比尔杀死民选官员的正义声讨，这或许可以看作是对于民主精神的尊严的维护尽管这种民主看起来不过就那么回事。因此，这部电影从维纶刺杀失败后转入一个新的层次。个人恩怨在某种程度上被压抑了，维纶开始重继父亲的行当，以死兔帮为远渡重洋来寻美国梦的兄弟建立立足之地。在此之后的一系列事件将族群、政府和人民、民主和暴力之间的弦不断绷紧，最终以暴力的形式释放出来。而最终的暴力镇压和屠夫比尔之死又成为这种暴力冲突的宏观和微观的细致表现。全片2个小时40分钟，让我们庆幸的是，所幸史高西斯没有一哆嗦，把它拍成1个小时40分钟的黑帮打斗戏。扣人心弦的中国剧院飞刀戏，如果史高西斯把结局处理成迪卡普里奥痛快地一刀杀了丹尼尔戴刘易斯，那么迪卡普里奥的一生将完全改变，从此以后，观众们和苛刻的影评家们，都会给迪卡普里奥脑门上贴一个标签：小白脸，演个搞对象的文艺片还可以，可碰上像丹尼尔戴刘易斯这类老狐狸，演技被踩得抬不起头来。所幸还有后面的一个小时。纵观全片，这么长的片子节奏如行云流水般流畅而气氛十分紧张，吸引人一路看下去而无冷场，初初洋溢着激情，而且长镜头的大量运用，使观众以冷静的旁观者角色看待这段历史，这些都表现出了大导演的功力和心血，但少了整整一个小时，剧情逻辑性上的支离破碎肯定是不可避免的了，导演的很多意图肯定也不能表现出来让观众明白的，尤其是这样讲述这样复杂故事和沉重历史背景的巨作，想想《教父1，2》加起来是多少小时（与原著无关的第3集滚开，我的偶像AlPacino居然死的那么窝囊，那个接手的第三代教父也是怎么看怎么讨厌。。）至于选角，虽然RobertDeNiro没来，但接手的DanielDay-Lewis是个耀眼的亮点。而毫无疑问男女主角都不行，虽说屈从于电影公司老板为了吸引票房的考虑选了小狄这个家伙是有点无奈，但我始终觉得，如果用同样能招揽女fans的BradPitt肯定比现在强很多，看看人家在InterviewWithVampires和《搏击会》里的出色表现？
