剧情梗概：
九王爷（白彪饰）谋朝篡位，带领臣叛贼，杀入皇宫皇帝（艾飞饰）见大势已去，于是命两个忠心侍卫各抱一太子杀出重围，保留其皇室一族的龙脉。展转间，大太子（狄龙饰）由少林戒律院三位高僧抚养长大，法号首行，并习得一身少林功夫二太子（尔冬升饰）则易名五子泰，由丞相（谷峰饰）抚养。五子泰往少林寺借阅易筋经时，与兄道行初次遇上，可是并不知他便是其亲兄弟…… 本片1982年出品，也是金牌武术指导唐佳首次担任导演的作品，王晶编剧，两大主角由当红明星狄龙和尔东升担任。由于是首次执导，唐佳几乎把生平所学全部用到了拍摄中，他特别为影片设计了两件新兵器，在动作上，采用了吊钢丝拍摄“叠罗汉”这一大场面。另外，片中大部分武僧，都由唐家班武师担任，为支持唐佳首次执导，全部剃头演出。全片武打场面精彩，文戏也不算弱，是1980年代邵氏武打片的代表作品之一。
