剧情梗概：
该剧讲述了无产阶级革命家、军事家、中国人民解放军陆军上将韩先楚的传奇一生。韩先楚出生在湖北省黄安（红安）县一个贫苦农民家庭，当过放牛娃，学过篾匠，在武汉做过短工，少年时代的艰辛经历，使他很快接受了“官逼民反”的革命思想。1927年11月，黄麻起义爆发时，他加入了家乡的农民协会，参加了反帝大同盟，甚至还担任了乡苏维埃土地委员。在革命运动风起云涌的日子里，他以朴素的阶级感情和满腔热血，投入到了如火如荼的革命斗争中。1926年，韩先楚结识中共湖北特委委员吴焕先，带领农民开展土地革命。1930年，韩先楚参加中共黄安游击大队，被选拔参加红军。韩先楚作为战斗骨干，成为手枪班班长，后升为排长、营长，并加入了中国共产党。1935年11月，中央红军长征，韩先楚率部参加了著名的直罗镇战役。1937年抗日战争爆发，韩先楚研究平原地区抗日作战新战法，在“反九路围攻”的战役中，再创佳绩。日本宣告投降，党中央发布进军东北的命令，韩先楚任三纵司令员，三下江南、四保临江，共歼灭国民党军4万余人，使我军转入战略进攻。10月8日，抗美援朝，保家卫国。韩先楚受命出任志愿军副司令员，并任志司前线总指挥，成功指挥四次战役改写美军不可战胜的神话。该剧以史实为依据，艺术地再现了开国战将韩先楚从一个打工仔，成为共和国将军的漫漫人生路。
