剧情梗概：
杜十娘（李嘉欣饰）是城中有名的绝色佳丽，性格却孤傲清高，无数男人都垂涎其美色，十娘心中却只期盼找到一个真心爱护自己的人并从此离开这风月场所。直到杜十娘遇到了李甲（吴彦祖饰），中意于李甲。穷酸秀才李甲愿意用钱赎回杜十娘的自由身。杜十娘由此跟随着李甲归家，途中李甲偶遇故交孙福，孙福是个富家子弟，平日就游手好闲贪恋美色，一见杜十娘便与李甲商量要用五千两白银换十娘。此时的李甲一边因为落榜很是失落，另一面散尽身边财物更是无言归家见父母，多番考虑后，竟同意了孙福的想法，两人达成交易。杜十娘知道这些勾当之后，心如死灰，怒沉百宝箱并投水自尽剧情版本二：影片讲述了这样一个故事：金牌老鸨夜叉旗下有绝色佳丽名杜十娘，内心傲如雪梅，渴望遇上真心汉子从良做贤淑妇人。十娘遇到了李甲，李甲向夜叉赎回了十娘的自由身。十娘与李甲回家，途中遇李甲旧交孙富，孙富垂涎十娘美貌，愿以白银五千两交换十娘，正因赴考不成、钱财散尽而苦于无颜面见双亲的李甲无奈下应允。十娘心如灰烬，怒沉百宝箱并投水自尽。李甲没有了杜十娘，依然回乡做他的李公子；妓院没有了杜十娘，依旧夜夜笙歌。而灯火璀璨处，一个似鬼非鬼、发丝滴水的杜十娘出现了。幕后花絮李嘉欣在片中不仅大展舞技，而且还首度开腔演唱电影主题曲。导演杜国威称李嘉欣与吴彦祖两人在私底下均十分怕羞，让人还担心他们在拍影片的床上戏和接吻戏的时候会紧张，拖慢整个进度。当两人拍摄时非常投入，两次NG后已经把戏完成了。
